Casa Mia Blog nominated for Italy Magazine Blog Awards!

In the event that you missed it, I launched  Casa Mia – Italy  Food & Wine – an expanded private food and wine tour company in May 2015. I’m over the moon thrilled to announce that only 8 months after the launch, the Casa Mia blog has been shortlisted in not one, but two Italy Magazine Blog Award categories: “Best Travel Blog” and “Best New Blog”.

Casa Mia nominated for Best Travel Blog
I’m very proud and excited to have Casa Mia recognized and nominated along with other noteworthy contestants. The Casa Mia Blog is a team effort in which the founders, editors and guest contributors pour limitless passion, research and dedication.

I’d like to thank everyone who nominated us into the Italy Magazine Blog Awards shortlists and I would love your vote for the win! Voting is easy and quick:

    Meet Sandro Dibella on Etna

As a co-fouder of  Casa Mia, I’m very excited to share our series of interviews called “Our Italians”. We love meeting  local food artisans, experts and producers as we travel around Italy for work and pleasure and we want to share our passion with you. I’m happy to spend time in Sicily visiting old friends and making new ones like Sandro and Lucia, owners of Cave Ox Osteria and Pizzeria on Etna. They are a passionate couple committed to sharing the best in Italian food and wine and to making visitors feel at home.

Thanks to their hospitality and warmth, when I walk into Cave Ox, I hear the opening theme to 1980’s television sitcom Cheers… “Where everybody knows your name”…I hope you’ll take the time to meet Sandro and his little Cave Ox here …enjoy. DSC_0428

    Italian Adventure

My italian adventure began nearly 8 years ago. I packed my bags for 3 months to see if I could make it in Italy. Coming from NYC, I left with Frank Sinatra’s voice singing “if I can make it there, I’ll make it anywhere…” after all if I made it in NYC 3 times over why not Rome? Despite its own unique set of challenges, I launched GT Food & Travel more than 2 years ago with the intention of expanding beyond Rome. Today, I’m happy to share the next chapter of my italian adventure  Casa Mia | Italy Food & Wine Tours. I’ve teamed up with two food professionals and friends, Elizabeth and Eleonora, to create Casa Mia, a food & wine association. casamiaOur association offers unique, local culinary experiences including food walks, wine tastings, cooking classes and in-home dining in and around Rome, Naples, Florence and Sicily with a very personal touch hence the name “Casa Mia”! GT Food & Travel will continue to offer group food tours and wine tastings in Rome, custom designed tours and dining itineraries as well as corporate event planning.
